The Rule Book by Sarah Adams
Sarah Adams is an auto buy for me after the Cheat Sheet. That book is comfort food for me and I give it 5 stars every time I re-read it because the way the hero pines for the heroine is everything I want in a Romantic Lead.
This one did not stick the landing quite the same way. We have college sweethearts who break up with no conversation/explaination/closure and then they are thrown back together years later and get over that hurt to fake date/fake marry to save her career.
And then he quits football. (I know that’s a spoiler but I don’t care).
It was fine. Just fine. But also you don’t just ghost your college boyfriend if you want to focus on school and your career. Women like talking more than that.
And you don’t go from being a person who ghosts your ex to focus on your career to being the type of person who is a bend over backwards people pleaser. This character feels like she was drawn very lightly in pencil and non of her personality traits match.
Final thoughts: kinda a miss - but still a good author
